Using WinMLS for measuring airborne sound insulation should be easy.
However, there is some preparation needed.
Click help to open the documenation that will explain the airborne procedure.
Click the Next > button to continue.
For this we recommend the First measurements walk-through in Help→Help Topics…. If you follow this section, you will also get used to working with WinMLS.
The fastes way is to go to Setup→Load… and locate your sound card in the Sound Cards section.
FIXME: Add link to the fastest way of checking that the sound card works.
To measure the correct absolute levels, the input chain must be calibrated. If you only need to compare relative levels (should give the same result, but is not according to the standard), you may skip this part.
Calibration can be done in different ways as explained if you click help. Here we assume that you are using a microphone and have a calibrator.
Then what you need to calibrate is to click the Cal button on the standard toolbar as shown in the figure. Follow the procedure to complete the calibration.
With WinMLS you can create a report according to ISO 140-4.
To create the report, go to File→Report→Create….
If this does not work, please check:
* You must have calculated the result before creating the report.* You must have MS Word installed and set to open *.doc files.* MS Word must be set to run macros. In MS Word, go to Tools→Macro→Security… and select Medium.
