Musical Acoustics – Violin Bridge Tuning

Step 1 – Introduction

IntroductionOn how to use this setup, please load the setup called plate tuning first and follow that procedure since this is very similar.

To tune the bridge, you need to clamp the feet as shown in the picture (picture not yet displayed).

Hit the top of one part of the bridge or use the fingernail below the bridge.

Place a microphone or another sensor very near the other side of the bridge to measure the response.

Step 2 – Result

The plot should have a line like in the picture (picture not yet available).

If not, try to repeat the measurement.

You may have to set the trigging level.

Note that filtering is used to attenuate frequencies below 2000 Hz and above 4000 Hz.
