Room Acoustics – Imp Res for Convolution

Step 1 – High Quality Impulse Responses

High Quality Impulse ResponsesThis setup is meant for measuring extremely high quality impulse responses.

To get started using WinMLS for room acoustics measurements, first load the setup named Room Acoustics_Reverberation Time and follow the guide in the first wizard step.

When you have done this, click the Next > button to continue.

Step 2 – Measurement Parameters

Measurement ParametersAs default we have selected the measurement parameters shown in the wizard picture.

In the case of high quality impulse responses, you should set the expected decay time 50 % longer than it really is. As default, we have selected 1.5 sec., this means that if you are measuring a room with higher reverberation time than 1 second, you must increase this number.

The duration of measurement is set to 80 sec., type a higher number to get better result.

Click help for information about measurement parameters.

Step 3 – About the Plot

About the PlotThe plot displays the time data (impulse response) plotted on a dB y-axis which makes it possible to see the decay as function of time (see picture).

To display the FAQ on the room acoustics part of WinMLS, click help.

After doing this, click the Next > button to continue.

Step 4 – Customize the Wizard

Customize the WizardIf you want to start the Wizard again, do this from MeasurementWizardStart.

You can easily edit the Wizard to include your own specific instructions from MeasurementWizardEditor….

Click help for more information.

If you want WinMLS to remember changes you have made to the settings, store the setup from SetupStore….

Click the Finish button to exit this wizard.
