Background noise in Receiving Room

The background noise does not need to be measured if using the new impulse response-based method and you may therefore skip this section. The reason is that the impulse response will contain the background noise so a separate measurement is not required. You may close the Background noise window in this case.

 

If you are using the traditional standard, the background noise must be measured. The loudspeaker will not be used for this measurement.

Place your microphone(s) in the receiving room.

 

Click in the window named Airborne_Backgr. Noise ReceivingRoom as shown below to route the measurement to this plot.

 

 

Then push F2 to start the measurement. It should take about 6 seconds.

After performing the first measurement, the Saving Defaults dialog should pop up. Type in the number of background measurements you wish to perform, e.g. 6 measurements as shown below.

 

 

Now move the microphone and perform a new measurement. Repeat this procedure until you have performed the desired number of measurements.
